John Rikard Dempsey (born September 13, 1949) is an American former professional baseball player. [1] He played for 24 seasons as a catcher in Major League Baseball from 1969 to 1992, most prominently for the Baltimore Orioles where he played for 10 years and was a member of the 1983 World Series winning team.
