Laura Jones (born 1951) is an Australian screenwriter. Jones started her career writing teleplays for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Her first feature film credit was the original screenplay for High Tide (1987), directed by Gillian Armstrong and starring Judy Davis.

Laura’s screenwriting career began in 1985, writing two original telemovies for the ABC, COLD COMFORT and EVERYMAN FOR HIMSELF, both of which won Australian Writers’ Guild Awards. In 1987 Laura wrote the original screenplay for HIGH TIDE for which she won Best Screenplay at the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards.
