Lajos Bíró (IPA: [ˈlɒjoʒ ˈbiːroː]; born Lajos Blau; [needs IPA] 22 August 1880 – 9 September 1948) was a Hungarian novelist, playwright, and screenwriter who wrote many films from the early 1920s through the late 1940s.

Lajos Bíró was born on the 29th of August 1856 in Tasnád, Szilágy Shire, in Transylvania, (which was then part of Hungary). He was the sixth child of a poor cabinetmaker. His father wanted him to become a woodworker also, but young Lajos had a keen interest in natural history.
