The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (stylised on-screen as simply The Water Horse) is a 2007 fantasy drama film directed by Jay Russell and written by Robert Nelson Jacobs, based on Dick King-Smith 's children's novel The Water Horse.
A young boy discovers a large, mysterious egg along the shores of Loch Ness. He soon discovers that the strange hatchling inside is the Water Horse, Crusoe— the loch's mythical inhabitant— and the two become fast friends. Weta Digital created Crusoe from infancy to adulthood.
