Sir Michael Lawrence Davis (born 15 February 1958) is a British politician and former South African businessman, former chief executive and treasurer of the Conservative Party and the chief executive (CEO) of Xstrata plc, an Anglo-Swiss multinational mining company, until its merger with Glencore in 2013.
Early life. Born in Glasgow and raised in the Gorbals, Davis was bedridden with asthma during his childhood. After outgrowing the condition, he worked as a fitness coach for his childhood football team Celtic F.C. where he befriended the singer Rod Stewart, an ardent supporter of Celtic.
Sir Mick Davis, a former Jewish Leadership Council chair and a donor to the party, quit his roles as CEO and treasurer of the Conservative Party. He warned that the party risks losing the next election if it is not properly funded and united behind Boris Johnson.
