Ralph Fiennes is an English actor of stage and screen. He has been nominated for two Academy Awards and an Primetime Emmy Award. He received a Tony Award in 1995 for his work on the Broadway stage in Hamlet.
Also in 2022 Fiennes collaborated with his sister, the filmmaker Sophie Fiennes, translating to the screen his production and performance of T. S. Eliot's poem, Four Quartets. The original on-stage performance was described as "a magnificent theatrical experience" [45] and "a poignant one-man show about a world under threat."
Fiennes first worked on screen in 1990 and then made his film debut in 1992 as Heathcliff in Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights (1992), opposite Juliette Binoche. 1993 was his "breakout year". He had a major role in the controversial Peter Greenaway film The Baby of Mâcon (1993), with Julia Ormond, which was poorly received.
