Welcome to the Inokom website. We at Inokom, as part of the Sime Darby Motors, are proud to be the pioneers in motor vehicle manufacturing and assembly in the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER).
Inokom is the licensed contract assembler for Hyundai, Kia, BMW and Mazda passenger vehicles in Malaysia. Inokom was incorporated in October 1992 through a joint venture between companies from Malaysia, France and South Korea. [1]
Inokom is involved in the assembly of passenger cars, multi-utility vehicles, sport utility vehicles, multi-purpose vehicles, and light commercial vehicles. Its manufacturing facility, which first commenced production in 1997, is located in Padang Meha, Kulim, occupying 200 acres of freehold land.
The Inokom Vendor Park reflects Inokom's commitment to support local vendors. The park encourages time and cost efficiency, reducing transportation costs and supplier lead time. Coupled with Just In Time (JIT) practices, the Inokom Vendor Park also reduces the need for storage at the Inokom manufacturing plant.
In 2004, Sime Darby Motors acquired Inokom assembly plant in Kedah, Malaysia which assembles various Hyundai passenger and commercial vehicles. In 2008, the assembly operations for BMW and Land Rover were then relocated to Inokom. However, the assembly of Land Rover was ceased in 2016.
INOKOM Corp Sdn Bhd, Sime Darby Bhd’s indirect subsidiary, is in the final stage of negotiations with UK-based Jaguar Land Rover to assemble a couple of their models in Malaysia for the regional market, sources say.
