Schott AG is a German multinational glass company specializing in the manufacture of glass and glass-ceramics. Headquartered in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, it is owned by the Carl Zeiss Foundation. The company's founder and namesake, Otto Schott, is credited with the invention of borosilicate glass .
Group sales increased by 13 percent to €2.52 billion compared to last year. The operating result (EBIT) also improved by €102 million to €390 million – an increase of 35 percent. Consolidated net income also increased to €296 million and the equity ratio reached 41 percent.

German multinational company Schott AG has established Schott Asia IT Services Sdn Bhd (SAITS), its international information technology (IT) competence centre, in Kuala Lumpur. The formation of the new IT competence centre is greatly supported by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
According to the balance sheet, the company created around 1,000 new jobs by the end of September, totaling to 17,300 current employees (+5%), with approximately 6,000 located in Germany. Pharmaceutical solutions and products for household appliances and consumer electronics are top performers.
