Lewis Henry Lavenu (1818–1859) was an English composer, conductor, musician and impresario. Life and career. Lavenu was born in London in 1818, the only son, by his second wife Eliza, of Lewis Lavenu, music publisher to the Prince Regent.
Lewis Henry Lavenu was son of the London music seller and publisher, Lewis Augustus Lavenu (c.1767-1818), and his second wife Eliza Mary Brooks (c.1787-1838). After her husband's death in 1818, Eliza went into partnership with the violinist Nicolas Mori (1796-1839), whom she later married, at St. Paul's, Covent Garden, on 24 January 1826.
[1] Lavenu is sometimes wrongly named as Louis and recorded as born in 1818. The St George, Hanover Square, London, baptism record shows that Lewis Henry Lavenu was born on January 7, 1817 and baptised on February 3, 1817.
Lewis Augustus Lavenu (c.1767–17 August 1818) was a musician, music seller and publisher. He was the second son of John Lavenu, pastry chef to Stephen Fox, Lord Holland (brother of Charles James Fox).
