7 Feb 1992 · “Final Analysis” is a dedicated example of one of my favorite genres, the overwrought psychological thriller. It's the kind of movie where, if it doesn't end in a fight to the death high up in a lighthouse lashed with lightning, it should.
A psychiatrist (Gere) has an affair with his patient's sister (Basinger) who is married to a Greek mobster (Roberts). The mobster is a tyrant over his wife. The psychiatrist wants her to get a divorce, but she is afraid of what her husband would do.

Review by Ben Peterson ★★★★. A yummy, sweet little treat with Hitchcock and De Palma sprinkles all over it, but unmistakably 90s with the all the dime-store psychology thrown in there. Director Phil Joanou does best the quality, well lit and cinematically shot, mid-budget studio picture.
