Director Rex Ingram (II) directorial debut was Black Orchids (1917) made for Universal but they thought it was too erotic and didn't support it's release. When he joined Metro, Rex remade the same story as Trifling Women (1922). The remake was also quite erotic but done in a more subtle manner.
