Christopher Louis Hakius (born December 14, 1971) [1] is an American retired rock drummer best known for his work in Om and Sleep. [2] Around 1990, Hakius was in Asbestosdeath along with Al Cisneros and Matt Pike. Asbestosdeath broke up and the three would form Sleep.

Oct 14, 2019 · Fronted by bassist Al Cisneros and balanced by dummer Chris Hakius and guitarist Matt Pike, Sleep’s first album was 1991’s Volume One, an album drenched in Doom Metal dread. While the album earned them a small, devoted cult following, they didn’t enjoy much attention outside of the Doom Metal scene.
The band reformed in 2009 and have played sporadic live dates internationally since, with Neurosis drummer Jason Roeder replacing original member Chris Hakius. In 2018, Sleep surprise-released their comeback album, The Sciences , on Third Man Records , to further critical acclaim.
