Papa Emeritus Nihil, formerly known as "Papa Emeritus Zero", is a member of The Clergy, and was the frontman of Ghost during the Seven Inches of Satanic Panic cycle in 1969. He is the father of Papa Emeritus, Papa Emeritus II, Papa Emeritus III, and Fater Imperator.
The band also welcomed Papa Nihil, the first band member besides Forge to receive a character name. Originally introduced as Papa Emeritus Zero, Nihil is the ancestor of all previous Papa Emeritus characters, and after the "deaths" of his descendants, was the only surviving member of the Papa Emeritus lineage that we know of.

Papa Nihil, or Papa Emeritus Zero, sometimes also referred to as "Sax God XD", first appeared at a Ritual on September 30, 2017, after the final performance of Papa Emeritus III was abruptly ended. At this Ritual, Papa Nihil announced that the "middle age" has begun.
Papa Emeritus III was retired at the end of Ghost's 2016–2017 Popestar Tour (being physically dragged off stage at the end of the final show), and a new character, Papa Emeritus Zero (now known as Papa Nihil), was introduced immediately afterward.

Background and themes. According to Ghost's fictional backstory, Seven Inches of Satanic Panic contains two songs that were written and recorded by an early incarnation of the band in 1969, when Papa Emeritus Nihil was the vocalist.
Though he made his appearence in the scene after Papa Emeritus III, Papa Nihil, or Papa 0, is the leader of Ghost’s universe’s clergy. He’s the father of Never, Papa Emeritus II.
