Alfred (Alfred Ernest Albert; 6 August 1844 – 30 July 1900) was sovereign Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1893 to 1900. He was the second son and fourth child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert .
Alfred was the fourth child and second son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. He served in the navy, married a Russian grand duchess, inherited the duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and had six children.

Prince Albert was born on 26 August 1819 at Schloss Rosenau, near Coburg, Germany, the second son of Ernest III, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, and his first wife, Louise of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg.
