About GP Vanier Secondary. The school opened in January 1968, completing a move of students from the old Courtenay Senior High School. Vanier was built to have a capacity of 1200 students. The school population grew to more than 1700 in the early 2000s, with the addition of 36 portable classrooms.
Georges P. Vanier Secondary School is a high school in Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada. The school was named after Georges P. Vanier, one of Canada's most popular Governors General.
English Language Arts. The aim of English Language Arts is: “… to enable each student to understand and appreciate language, and to use it confidently and competently in a variety of situations for communication, personal satisfaction and learning.”
We are continuing with the online form of course selection for Vanier students for the 2023-2024 school year. Just as report cards and attendance have been moved to the MyEducation BC portal, so too has course selection.
Georges P. Vanier operates three school programs; English, Continuing French Immersion and Late French Immersion along with the Learning and Literacy program, which is integrated in the English program.
