Steeped in history, it has been the home of Australian football since 1859 and was the birthplace of Test cricket in 1877. The MCG also served as the main stadium for the 1956 Summer Olympics, the 2006 Commonwealth Games, as well as the 1992 and 2015 Cricket World Cups.
