Established on 18 May 1970, National University of Malaysia or UKM has successfully produced intellectuals and scholars who are among the nation’s pride. Starting out with only three faculties, it has since grown into 13 faculties, 13 research institutes of excellence and two commercial entities.
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) – otherwise known as the National University of Malaysia –has bases in Bangi, Cheras and Kuala Lumpur, and was established in 1970. It was appointed as one of four research universities in Malaysia in 2006 due to its background in quality research.
UKM ranks 98th on the 2012 Times Higher Education list of Top Universities Under 50 Years and is the only Malaysian university to place in the 2012 QS Top 50 Universities Under 50 Years. It stands 58th in the overall 2012 QS Asian University Rankings.
