Apr 10, 2024 · So, are Yelp reviews credible? In its earlier years, Yelp offered a space where users could reliably communicate experiences in order to make informed decisions. While Yelp remains one of the most trustworthy review platforms, it’s estimated that 20% of Yelp reviews are fake.
The answer is both yes and no. On the one hand, Yelp does have measures in place to ensure that its online reviews are as accurate and unbiased as possible. For instance, they employ a team of moderators who review posts for accuracy before they go live on the site.
The vast majority of reviews are positive — more than half of all Yelp reviews are five stars (51%)*, with about 76% of all reviews over three stars*. Fake reviews and deceptive behavior are common across the web, which is why we’ve prioritized combating fraudulent conduct since 2005.
