Tiger Airways Australia Pty Ltd, operating as Tigerair Australia, was an Australian low-cost airline. Founded by Tiger Airways Holdings, it commenced services in the domestic airline market on 23 November 2007 as Tiger Airways Australia. It later became a subsidiary of Virgin Australia Holdings.

In an announcement to shareholders this morning, Virgin Australia said its budget offering would be sidelined until there were enough customers to warrant reviving it.
Low-cost carrier Tigerair Australia has officially collapsed after 13 years of operation. The airline cited the industry-wide downturn in travel due to COVID-19 lockdowns as the reason for the “difficult” decision.
Jetstar – operated by rival airline Qantas – is the only low-cost carrier operating out of Australia.
