Zhong County or Zhongxian ( simplified Chinese: 忠县; traditional Chinese: 忠縣; pinyin: Zhōng Xiàn) is a county of Chongqing Municipality, China. The name "Zhong" (忠) means "loyalty." It is named after the historical story of General Ba Manzi, who chose to be killed to keep his Kingdom together.
The municipality contains 26 districts, 8 counties, and 4 autonomous counties. The city served as the wartime capital for the Republic of China (ROC) during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945).
