Conception. Ultraman was originally going to be a birdlike alien monster named Bemular. Due to the fear that children wouldn't know who to cheer for, they turned Ultraman into a more humanoid alien. The name of the alien bird man would be given to Bemular while the initial design was reused for Hydra .
