Che Abdul Daim bin Zainuddin was born in Alor Setar, Kedah, British Malaya (now Malaysia). He is the youngest of thirteen siblings. His father, Zainuddin Affan was a clerk in the Kedah State Civil Service whilst his mother, Hasimah Hassan was a homemaker.

Beliau dilahirkan pada 29 April 1938 serta anak bongsu daripada 13 beradik. Bapanya bekerja sebagai kerani kerajaan, manakala ibunya seorang suri rumah. Memulakan pendidikan awal di Sekolah Melayu Seberang Perak sebelum melanjutkan pelajaran ke peringkat menengah di Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid (KSAH), Kedah dan Institut St Xavier, Pulau Pinang.
Jan 23, 2023 · PETALING JAYA: Toh Puan Mahani Idris, the wife of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, passed away on Sunday night (Jan 22). “It is with a heavy heart that we inform all that Mami (Mahani) has peacefully returned to God almighty,” a source close to the family said, quoted by Astro Awani. The cause of death was not disclosed.

May 10, 2024 · PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by Tun Daim Zainuddin and his family to set aside the High Court’s decision that rejected their leave application to commence judicial review on a probe by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). A three-judge panel, chaired by Justice Azizah Nawawi, made the dismissal here yesterday.
