There are two models of the M50 available at the moment. The synth-action 61-key version (under review here) uses a semi-weighted 'Natural Touch' keyboard, while the M50-88 incorporates Korg's top-of-the-line Real Weighted Hammer Action 3 (RH3).
The Korg M50 was unveiled shortly after the release of their popular M3 and in many aspects it is just a stripped-down version of the M3. While it makes use of the exact same EDS sound system as that of the M3, it has a few more limitations.

Dec 4, 2008 · Korg M50. For ease of imagination, think of the M50 as a strimmed back M3. The superfluous features have been cut away to leave 256MB of PCMs, 608 patches and 384 combinations covering all the bases.
Feb 12, 2009 · At around half the price of an M3, the M50 looks (and sounds) like the cost effective pathway to its bigger brothers’ sounds. Of course, there have been sacrifices in the feature list, but if you’re hankering for some modern Korg tonality, the M50 could well be the answer to your prayers.
