The Medan Pasar is the old market square in the center of Kuala Lumpur. The square is near a number of landmarks, shops and eateries that are within easy walking distance of one another. Medan Pasar holds the origins to the city. Tin was discovered at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers.

The urban development of the city of Kuala Lumpur began right here in this very square where Yap Ah Loy came in the 1870's. It has a nice clock tower and concrete benches for people to sit. It is very close to Masjid Jamek and Central Market. Concerts and performances are often held here.
