The first NHMS MCH was conducted in 2016 and then repeated second time in 2022, both of which concentrated on the health status of mothers with their most recent child under the age of 2, children under the age of 5, and women of reproductive age, 15 to 49 years.

Marriage to protect a girl and her family’s reputation was sometimes deemed necessary by the girl’s family following an unplanned pregnancy. However, for 14 girls, child marriage facilitated adolescent pregnancy.
