The Club which began its racing activities in the 1800s has over the century evolved and grown into a centre for all forms of equine activity. In Malaysia, private membership clubs like the Selangor Turf Club run the races. Malaysian horse racing is dependent on the synergistic relationship between the Malaysian Tote Board and the Turf Clubs.

Selangor Turf Club is a horse-racing track located in Serdang, Selangor, Malaysia. It is one of four horse-racing courses in the country; the other two are in Ipoh, Perak, Penang and Kuching, Sarawak. History. Selangor Turf Club was founded in 1896.

History of the Selangor Turf Club (SLTC) at a canter: Early 1890s: The British Resident, Sir William Maxwell, started amateur racing in Selangor. 1896: SLTC was established. Sir Frank Swettenham, the new British Resident, was its first President.
The Selangor Turf Club also features stables that can house up to 700 horses and a grandstand that can accommodate 25,000 people.
