Character +Community. Teachers encourage students to develop character strengths alongside disciplinary knowledge. In reading, writing, and math, a workshop model of instruction allows students to develop at their own pace and to learn from collaborating with others. Classroom activities emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving.
Riverdale Country School is a Pre-K through grade 12 independent school in New York City committed to empowering lifelong learners by developing minds, building character, and creating community in order to change our world for the good. The Student Life program builds on the Middle School’s work and is aligned with the Pillars of Student Life. Programming is grounded in understanding core values, healthy communication and healthy relationships. Students deepen their exploration of essential concepts related to identity and belonging, social health, sexual health, and prevention.
Spanish I. This course covers language fundamentals equivalent to those completed in Spanish I-a and Spanish I-b combined. By the end of the year, skills in listening, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and reading are sufficiently developed to enable students to enter second-level courses. Spanish II.
