The Lee Kong Chian Collection came from the Lee Kong Chian Art Museum established at Nanyang University in 1970. It was principally a collection of Chinese materials that included bronzes, jades, ceramics and classical ink paintings spanning 8000 years of Chinese history, from the Neolithic period to the Qing Dynasty.
The World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Digital Health & Health Education at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine was designated on 21 June 2019 to support WHO's wider vision to improve the digital health competencies and capacity of the health workforce.
Lee Kong Chian was a well read and erudite man. At one point during World War II he delivered lectures on Southeast Asia at Columbia University. The Foundation’s gift thus directly reflects the legacy and interests of its founder. Lee Kong Chian arrived in Singapore, then the British Straits Settlement of Singapore, as a ten-year-old lad in 1903.
