Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu (simplified Chinese: 林苍祐; traditional Chinese: 林蒼祐; pinyin: Lín Cāngyòu; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Lîm Chhong-iū; 28 May 1919 – 24 November 2010) was a Malaysian politician who served as the 2nd Chief Minister of Penang from May 1969 to October 1990 and the longest serving Chief Minister of Penang.
Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway (Chinese: 林倉祐大道; Malay: Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu) or Federal Route 3113, is an expressway on Penang Island, that connects the city centre of George Town with Batu Maung at the city's south.
Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu (28 Mei 1919 – 24 November 2010) merupakan mantan Presiden MCA, mantan Presiden Parti Demokratik Bersatu (UDP) serta mantan Presiden Gerakan yang pertama selama 9 tahun. Beliau pernah berkhidmat sebagai Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang selama 21 tahun mulai 19 Mei 1969 sehingga 25 Oktober 1990.
ON the day Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu died on Nov 24, 2010, I sat in front of Datuk Seri Chet Singh at my then office at the Penang Institute, listening to Chet reading out loud his draft eulogy for Dr Lim. I thought to myself, “We must get a book out on Dr Lim and his time”.

He was one of the founder members of the Opposition Party Gerakan before the 1969 General Election. The formation of Gerakan has thrown the Chinese into a dilemma, weakened their political strength and above all, eroded the political representation of the MCA as the only party for the Chinese community.
