Some of the action is good, Mel Gibson is average at best and the rest of the film though in colour feels a bit old fashioned and at times uninteresting.
I've always liked Payback. Mel Gibson at his peak, playing the bad guy, great cast of characters (Gregg Henry at his sleazy best) along with great turns by James Coburn, William Devane, David Paymer (and who can forget Lucy Liu ("Hubba, hubba."). The Director's Cut has a far different (and far better) third act as well as a much better ending.
