Credited with being creative and having a good mentality for camera techniques, he became a popular cinematographer. Jan de Bont was born in Amsterdam in 1944. He graduated from the Amsterdam "FILM ACADEMY" in 1964, studied at the University of Cologne and then returned to Holland to start his own film production company. His films were immediately recognized for their artistic merit, and many were acquired by European film museums.
