Maurice is the head of Assini Productions, a film studio whose films have included Smudge (2006), [1] Kihtwam misawac na-wapamitin (2011), Assini (2015) [5] and Rosie (2018). She was a co-writer and star of Joshua Demers's 2020 film Québexit. [6]
Biography. Gail Maurice is a fluent Cree/Michif speaking actor and an award-winning filmmaker. She created her own company Assini Productions to tell stories that highlight strong Indigenous female leads. She translates and speaks her language whenever she can on the big and little screen.

Fluent in Cree/Michif, Maurice emphasizes Indigenous female leads through Assini Productions. She translated and portrayed roles in "Night Raiders" and "Québexit," earning accolades for her writing. "Rosie," her directorial debut, expanded from her 2018 short film and premiered at TIFF 2022.
