Early life. Bluth was born in El Paso, Texas, to Emaline (née Pratt) and Virgil Roneal Bluth. [3] . His maternal grandfather was Rey Pratt from the Pratt family, whose own father Helaman Pratt was an early leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as a grandfather of George W. Romney and great-grandfather of Mitt Romney.
