Feb 8, 2023 · Allan Nathan Kaufman, Professor of Physics at UC Berkeley, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2022 in Moraga, California. He was 95. Allan was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 21, 1927 to Millie and Justin Kaufman who emigrated from Germany in 1910.

May 1, 2009 · A brief review is presented of the contributions of Allan Kaufman to the theory of plasma waves. These contributions have been rich and various, characterized by high quality and a sense of what makes a problem both interesting and important.
One can see the influence of Allan Kaufman’s formulation of plasma theory in the late Dwight Nicholson’s fine textbook Introduction to Plasma Theory (John Wiley & Sons, 1983).
