Georg Riedel (8 January 1934 – 25 February 2024) was a Czechoslovak-born Swedish double bass player and composer. [1] Riedel migrated to Sweden at the age of four [1] and attended school in Stockholm, including the Adolf Fredrik's Music School. [2]

He had been guest of honour at Ystad in 2021 and this year the Swedish festival had planned to celebrate him as its honorary ambassador, with a special concert by the Bohuslän Big Band and guests.

Georg Riedel composed music for Astrid Lindgren’s films, as well as innovative jazz for Radiojazzgruppen and his own duos, trios and quartets. His oeuvre includes opera, orchestral works and music for films, ballet and church services.
