Ernst Lothar, whose real name was Ernst Lothar Müller, was born in Brno in 1890 and died in 1974 in Vienna. He was a trained lawyer and worked as a state prosecutor, among other jobs, before becoming a theatre critic, director, and finally, the manager of the Theater in der Josefstadt in 1925.
