Manuel Penella Moreno (Valencia, España, 31 de julio de 1880 - Cuernavaca, México, 24 de enero de 1939) fue un compositor español, famoso por su composición musical El gato montés, e hijo del también compositor Manuel Penella Raga (1847-1909).
El gato montés ("The Wild Cat") is an opera in three acts composed by Manuel Penella who also wrote the Spanish-language libretto. It premiered on 23 February 1916 at the Teatro Principal in Valencia. [1]

Manuel Penella (31 July 1880, Valencia, Spain - 24 January 1939, Cuenavaca, Mexico) was a Spanish composer. He studied with his father, composer Manuel Penella Raga, at the Valencia conservatory. At age 13, he performed a violin concerto at the Valencia conservatory.
He studied with his father Manuel Penella i Raga, Salvador Giner and Andrés Goñi. Despite showing talent for the violin from an early age, he had to abandon the instrument due to an accident in his left hand. In 1894 he was organist of the parish of Sant Nicolau in Valencia, the city where he premiered the zarzuela La fiesta del pueblo.
