Walter Emmons Alston (December 1, 1911 – October 1, 1984), nicknamed "Smokey", was an American baseball manager in Major League Baseball who managed the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers from 1954 through 1976, signing 23 one-year contracts with the team.

Walter Alston was a professional National League baseball manager whose career with the Los Angeles (formerly Brooklyn) Dodgers was the third longest for managers, after Connie Mack and John McGraw. Alston earned his nickname Smokey as a pitcher for his high-school team.
Walter Alston managed the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers for 23 seasons, winning four World Series titles and seven NL pennants. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1983 and died in 1984.
