Ravelry is a community site, an organizational tool, and a yarn & pattern database for knitters and crocheters.
Every yarn has its own page on Ravelry. On each yarn page, you can get information about a yarn as well as browse and search pages of projects that people have made with that yarn. To try this out, use the yarns tab to search and find a yarn, then click the projects tab on an individual yarn page.
Ravelry provides a personal notebook for fiber artists to keep track of their projects, yarns & fibers, tools, and pattern library, a rich database of patterns and yarns, and a community with thousands of forums and groups to connect with other Ravelers over any interest you could think of.
You can even view your Ravelry stash or import all your projects from Ravelry, and update them on the go! Features include: Intelligent row counter (informs you of completion, stitch increase/decrease and pattern rows)
Ravelry has a vast collection of free knitting and crochet patterns. To search for them, use the search bar at the top of the page and filter your results by selecting “free” under the availability section.
Ravelry is a place for knitters, crocheters, designers, spinners, and dyers to keep track of their yarn, tools and pattern information, and look to others for ideas and inspiration. Ravelry has been mentioned by Tim Bray as one "of the world’s more successful deployments of Ruby on Rails technologies."
Ravelry is in its beta testing phase - we are adding new features every day. We really hope that this site will continue to be a way to help independent designers to get their patterns well-deserved exposure, and for all designers to connect with the knitters and crocheters who are working with their patterns.

Jan 7, 2022 · This year our Ravelry community: published more tha 82,000 patterns, helping the Ravelry database grow past 1.1 million patterns finished over 1.2 million projects: 1,000,000 knitting, 192,000 crochet, 7,000 weaving, 6,000 machine knitting, 1,000 loom knitting, and 14,000 spinning projects.
