Mabel Cheung ( Chinese: 張婉婷, born 17 November 1950) is a film director from Hong Kong. She is one of the leading directors in Hong Kong cinema and is considered one of the three women (along with Ann Hui and Clara Law) to achieve acclaim in the New Wave/Second Wave in Hong Kong.

Mabel Cheung. Writer: Painted Faces. After graduating from the University of Hong Kong with a major in English literature and psychology, did graduate work in drama and creative writing at Bristol University in England. Returned to Hong Kong in 1978 to become the chief writer and director at a Hong Kong TV station.
Cheung has become an award-winning director in Hong Kong since her debut feature, The Illegal Immigrant (1985), which won her the Best Director Prize at the Hong Kong Film Awards and a Special Jury Award at the 30th Asia Pacific Film Festival.
