Berthold Viertel (* 28. Juni 1885 in Wien; † 24. September 1953 ebenda) war ein österreichischer Schriftsteller, Dramaturg, Essayist, Übersetzer und Film- und Theaterregisseur, der in Deutschland, den USA und Großbritannien wirkte. Sein Sohn war der Drehbuchautor Peter Viertel.
Berthold Viertel wurde als erstes Kind von Anna Klausner (1861–1932) und Salomon Viertel (1860–1932) in der Mariahilfer Straße 96 geboren und wuchs in dieser Gegend auf. Seine aus Galizien zugezogenen Eltern etablierten sich hier im Möbelhandel.
