Jan 4, 2017 · "Is this your first time to Sydney?" sounds flatly wrong to me, a 64-year-old native speaker of American English. I suppose it could be acceptable in some other variants of English, since it is a matter of usage rather than grammar, but I just don't know. Your other examples sound fine.
Oct 22, 2017 · I think it depends entirely on the larger context. If you're sitting behind the wheel of a car, it would be very natural to say "This is the first time", but saying "It is the first time" sounds weird. "It" is more general and doesn't necessarily refer to anything present. –
