Mi jefe dice que se dice " la primer etapa ", y yo creo que no tiene razón, ya que "etapa" es un sustantivo femenino, y lo que sepa yo, esta palabra no tiene nada de especial, como por ejemplo las palabras que empiezan con a o a acentuada (el agua, el águila, etc.), así que yo digo que se dice " la primera etapa ".

A letter of credit is like a guarantee but it does not become effective (executable) until a future date upon the occurence of some event. There may be a better word for "requerimiento" than demand.

I've checked my advice in an erudite treatise on essay (composition) writing and it clearly states: - en primer lugar = first. - en segundo lugar = secondly.
