Beautiful young European girl, Carol, is possessed by the spirit of Ayesha – “She, who must be obeyed” – and led to the lost city of Kuma, where she is destined to become queen.
After escaping from an amorous truck driver who is later fatally wounded in an accident, she arrives in Monte Carlo and stows away on a yacht bound for North Africa. On board she meets Philip Smith, a psychiatrist who senses that some compelling force is pulling the tormented woman toward the East.
