Dec 23, 2022 · Die Kaappunters’ story began when Riku met former Gereformeerde Blues Band member, Willem Möller, during a recording session. “It started in 1996 when Karring Kaappunter [Willem Möller] recorded the first album of the band, Me and Mr. Sane, which is how Willem and I met. Years later I met my wife Jackie, and formed Die Wasgoedlyn.”
The GBB was made up of Johannes Kerkorrel (vocals, keyboards), Gary Herselman (bass), Willem Möller (guitar) and Jannie van Tonder (drums, trombone). The name of the band parodied the Calvinistic Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk, which was enormously powerful in apartheid South Africa.

Willem Möller mastered the album at Sharpe Street Studios in Glencairn, Cape Town, and made suggestions to improve the final mixes. Apart from the absence of Brixton Barnard’s voice, the sound is reminiscent of previous Brixton Moord & Roof Orkes albus – an eclectic combination of musical styles.
