Feb 21, 2007 · Sadly, on Monday, February 19th, Charles Gocher passed away at the age of 54 after a struggle with cancer. In touch with his humane character, his disease was unknown to even the most dedicated Sun City Girls fans, which was simply how Gocher wanted it.
Sun City Girls were an American experimental rock band, formed in 1979 in Phoenix, Arizona. From 1981, the group consisted of Alan Bishop (bass guitar, vocals), his brother Richard Bishop (guitar, piano, vocals), and Charles Gocher (drums, vocals). Their name was inspired by Sun City, Arizona, an Arizona retirement community.

Jakarta 8/13/07: Gocher used to carry around an ant colony in his pants pocket in the form of a salt shaker filled with dirt, sugar, and a large collection of red ants burrowing within.
As followers of the legendary band know, drummer Charles Gocher died of cancer in February 2007. A private memorial was held shortly after. With this tour, Alan and Rick make good on their solemn vow to publicly honor Charlie, his memory, and his immense talent.
