Moderna, Inc. (/ m ə ˈ d ɜːr n ə / mə-DUR-nə) is a pharmaceutical and biotechnology company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that focuses on RNA therapeutics, primarily mRNA vaccines. These vaccines use a copy of a molecule called messenger RNA (mRNA) to carry instructions for proteins to produce an immune response .
The Moderna vaccine after two doses and a first booster dose has been shown to have very high effectiveness against severe disease, hospitalizations and death, and modest effectiveness against symptomatic illness.
Mar 26, 2024 · The NEXTCove clinical trial is a randomized, observer-blind, active-controlled study of approximately 11,400 individuals aged 12 years and older in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. mRNA-1283 was found to have a similar safety profile to Moderna's approved COVID-19 vaccines.

Apr 30, 2024 · Moderna's Phase 3 trial tested a two-dose vaccine (100 micrograms each, given 28 days apart) in adults ages 18 and older. The trial had more than 30,000 participants, including about 7,500 adults ages 65 and older and more than 5,000 adults ages 18 to 64 with risk factors for severe illness from COVID-19.
