校名「建國」二字，原先依照韋氏拼音翻譯成「Chien Kuo」，沿用已久，獲學生及校友認同，故仍經常使用非正式文宣上。 而該校知名校友 馬英九 於臺北市長任內 市府 為所屬機關學校英文譯名統一使用 漢語拼音 ，故正式譯名改為「Jianguo」。

Taipei Municipal Chien Kuo High School (CKHS; Chinese: 臺北市立建國高級中學), also historically known as Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School, is a public high school for boys located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. The school was established in 1898 during the early years of Japanese rule and was the first public high school in Taiwanese history.
