  9. 1839 - 1899. Alfred Sisley was born in Paris of British parents. He lived in France, and occasionally visited England. He trained in the studio of Gleyre in Paris,and became a member of the Impressionist group; his work was close to that of Pissarro and Monet. He mainly painted landscapes.
