STANNINGTON, a chapelry, with a village and several hamlets, in Ecclesfield parish, W. R. Yorkshire; 3¾ miles W of Sheffield r. station. It was constituted in 1843; and it has a post-office under Sheffield. Pop., 2,909. Houses, 554. Cutlery and hardware manufacture are carried on; and paper and fire-bricks are made.
